In the example, the red square is the area we want to crop.
The line is one pixel wide and we will place the crop 'line'
directly over the red line. If you are cropping an image,
please don't place a red box around the area you want
to crop... it is for demonstration purposes only.
While it ~is~ possible to line the cursor up with the area you
want to crop, it is much easier to miss that mark by a pixel or
two, causing lots of frustration after several attempts. In the
example, I have deliberately placed the cursor off the mark by
two pixels.
In the example, we see the area designated by the crop tool
displayed as a light green line. An area that we don't want,
two pixels wide and the length of the top of the image will
be included in the cropped area.
Place the crop tool cursor over the incorrect crop line. When
it changes from an 'arrowed' plus sign to a two headed arrow,
you're directly over the line. Hold the left mouse button
in while dragging the crop line into position.
Note the red line is now completely obliterated by the green
line. We have perfect alignment on the area we want to crop and
are ready to preform the function. Simply double click inside
the crop area and the excess will be removed, the window automatically
resized.
