Some easy photo manipulation you can do to create stunning effects. All of the examples had the manipulated area selected with the Magic Wand, Tolerance:15, Feather:3, and all had the same area selected. The original photo was 256 x 384, and was resampled to 133 x 199.

Set background color to white on the color pallette
Position the curser over the selection until the 'crossed arrow' appears, and move the selected area slightly to the right.
