The ZDU PSP Class
Lesson One
Add Texture
Airbrush Tool:
- Brush Tip: Left Slash
- Opacity: 10
- Size: 97
- Paper texture: clouds
Foreground Color used was a light blue, (141, 207, 245).
Hot Wax Coating with white Foreground color was applied to texture.
Add Text
An irregular crop was preformed using the Lasso Tool, Freehand
Selection type, Antialiased checked.
The selected area was copied and pasted into a new window 103 x 56
(the size of the cropped area), with a background the same color as text.
The new image was buttonized with the following settings:
- transparent edge
- height - 18
- width - 41
The new image again, this time with 25% random noise added.
And one more time, skewed around using the Deformation Tool, Skew mode.
I used settings of Horizontal - 0 and Vertical - 17. The faint outline of
the original image can be seen, this is caused by the fact that the original
crop selection was applied with antialiasing checked.
Antialiasing
Anti-aliasing is a technique whereby the rough, jagged edges of curved and
diagonal lines are smoothed. In a non-anti-aliased line the pixels in the image are
either a part of the line, or they are not. If the line is black on a white
background, the pixel must be either black, or white. When the line is
anti-aliased, the graphic program tests the colors on both sides and calculates
intermediate shades. The pixels on the edge of the graphic, (line in this case),
are then colored with the resulting intermediate colors, simulating a straight,
smooth edge.
